Immobilization

Not all backboards are created equal. Many are copies of the original plastic backboard that was introduced by Iron Duck in 1992. Since we invented the business, many companies have tried to duplicate our success. However they often use inferior materials during the manufacturing process. This has resulted in products that frequently fail within months. Unfortunately, this failure normally occurs with an already injured patient helplessly immobilized to it.

Iron Duck's products are manufactured only from premium raw materials that meet our highest standards. But it doesn't stop there. We also use a molding process called roto-molding which was developed as a superior alternative to thermal forming, vacuum forming and blow molding. Many of our "competitors" still use blow molding. Blow molding is a very efficient and fast means of molding. But it was designed for products like milk and soda bottles - not back boards. Blow molded walls are inconsistent - very thin in some areas and thicker in other. This "thinning" effect can lead to catastrophic product failure and cause injury not only to the immobilized patient, but the EMT as well.

Field tested. At Iron Duck, we have designed each of our plastic boards to meet the various needs of personnel in the field. If you are looking for a board that has a weight capacity that exceeds 800 pounds or a board that is truly 100% X-ray translucent, Iron Duck has a product to meet your needs. We even have a board, the Ultra Spac-Sav, which folds in half for our customers with storage concerns. Only Iron Duck has been there since the beginning, changing and adapting to fulfill the requirements of today's pre-hospital care provider.

It is true that some other products are a little less expensive than ours. However, if you consider the increased risk of injury and product replacement rate of inferior products, as well as the quality and variety of Iron Duck's boards, the decision is clear. And only Iron Duck products are backed with a 100% No Questions Asked Lifetime Warranty. If any Iron Duck product fails due to faulty workmanship or materials, we will Repair or Replace it at no cost to you. No other company in the EMS industry backs their products like Iron Duck!
